The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders at the University of Utah is seeking a clinical audiologist at their U of U Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. This position includes clinical supervision of AuD students in a direct-patient care setting that provides hearing services for pediatrics through geriatrics. You will be part of a team of audiologists specializing in a variety of areas of audiology, including diagnostics, amplification, electrophysiology, cochlear implants, teleaudiology, and vestibular assessment. The position is available for part-time employment.
The University of Utah Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic provides comprehensive services related to the prevention, identification, assessment, and management of disorders of auditory and balance systems under the academic model of direct patient-student supervision. Audiology clinical faculty are primarily responsible for direct patient-student supervision in the University of Utah Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic; however, they also may be assigned to provide patient care during school breaks and patient care and student supervision in contracted off-campus facilities.

In addition to clinical teaching, clinical faculty may serve on departmental and university committees and may be assigned to teach academic courses at the discretion of the Department Chair. Salaried, benefit-eligible clinical faculty are expected to attend department meetings and required university meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities in the University of Utah Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic:
1. Clinical supervision of AuD graduate students in the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and contracted off-campus facilities as assigned by the Director of Clinical Education – Audiology, with approval by the AuD Program Director.
2. Supervise graduate students in developing and completing required clinical documentation (i.e., chart notes, diagnostic reports, patient data systems, EMR , etc.).
3. See patients, as needed, during semester breaks for audiology services such as hearing aid fittings, hearing aid follow-ups, and hearing aid troubleshooting appointments.
4. Have the opportunity to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
5. Complete documentation required for third-party billing, adhere to required deadlines and provide documentation/explanations for hearing aid billing.
6. Complete student performance documentation and revise student clinic paperwork; adhere to required deadlines.
7. Attend regularly scheduled faculty meetings (clinical, audiology, and department.)
8. Maintain accurate records of supplies used and hearing aids ordered. All orders must comply with department, university, and state purchasing guidelines.
9. Maintain compliance with departmental policies and ASHA requirements regarding required standards for supervising graduate student clinicians’ treatment and diagnostic activities.
10.Attend continuing education activities to maintain ASHA CCC and Utah State licensure CEU requirements.
11.Complete annual required University training as assigned by Human Resources to meet university standards
12.Other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Education – Audiology, AuD Program Director, and/or Department Chair.
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
2. Must be able to receive detailed information through oral and written communication.
3. Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
4. Must be able to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
5. Must be able to travel to and from different locations and sites in the greater Salt Lake City area. 6. Must have manual dexterity sufficient to perform various keyboard functions.
7. Must be physically present at the assigned job site.
8. May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood pathogens, and aggressive or combative patients.
Reporting Relationship:
Supervised by the Director of Clinical Education – Audiology under the guidance of the AuD Program Director with oversight by the Department Chair.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Doctorate of Audiology (AuD) or PhD in Audiology.
2. Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association ( ASHA , CCC -A).
3. Current Utah license to practice audiology.
4. Previous experience with clinical student supervision is preferred.
5. At least one year of experience as a practicing audiologist.

6. Must demonstrate professional behavior by adhering to departmental and university policies and procedures.
7. Must adhere to the guidelines and deadlines for required student and clinical paperwork, including student performance evaluations and hearing aid order documentation.
8. Must pursue education or training necessary to perform at the level of competence required to incorporate the hardware, software, technologies, and ideas relevant to specific job responsibilities. 9. Must adhere to the principles and mission of the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the College of Health, and the University of Utah.
