Job Description - Audio/Visual Designer - Opportunity to Make a Difference

Summary

The Audio Video Designer reports directly to the Project Engineering Supervisor. This is an intermediate skill level position that requires an individual who demonstrates excellent computer hardware and software skills, networking and communications knowledge including audio systems, good documentation and verbal communication skills, basic understanding of carpentry / construction, and demonstrates the motivation to coordinate with several people at Watchfire and AV Companies.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret project details with sales, project management, and R&D to create professional plans and schematics that show Watchfire product and any 3rd party audio/visual hardware. 3rd Party products include, but are not limited to cameras, amplifiers, speakers, scoreboard controllers, shot clocks, remote game clocks, locker room clocks, etc.
  • Maintain a library of written product specifications on Watchfire and 3rd Party hardware for use in projects and bids.
  • Coordinate with the Project Estimator on Special Request Projects to identify and document proposed solutions or systems for the project.
  • Communicate and provide drawings, schematics, specifications, and system capabilities to sales and project managers.
  • As needed, communicate with jobsite contact(s) and Field Technicians on the jobsite during installation to assist with unplanned or unexpected issues regarding the drawings or schematics.
  • Verify post installation that the plans and schematics on file are accurate to the “As-Built” conditions at the jobsite. Maintain all records for later use by Field Operations and Service.
  • Coordinate with all sources required maintain an up-to-date knowledge of product capabilities and planned changes to existing products or new products that can help watchfire keep a competitive advantage. (i.e. Watchfire Indoor/Outdoor products, Danley Sound, JVC Cameras, VMix, Motion Rocket, OES, Spectrum, etc.)
  • Work with estimator(s) to understand work force utilization, equipment, workflow(s), permits, jobsite layout, etc.
  • Regularly attend training on subjects important to Watchfire and stay informed of industry practices and standards.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, & crouch in and around tightly configured spaces on jobsites. Must consistently lift and carry 10 pounds and lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Travel for jobsite visits may be required.
  • Hours are not strictly daytime M-F. NOTE: Travel and tight deadlines will require additional hours and weekends.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proficient in reading/writing/typing in English. Comprehend written, visual, and verbal instructions. Experience presenting information in small group situations. Excellent reasoning skills related to cause and effect.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and contractors in a professional and effective manner.
  • Exceptional teamwork, communication, time management, data processing, multi-tasking skills, with an understanding of urgency and critical issues is required.
  • (2) written work-related recommendations from previous/current employers, or instructors, or co-workers
  • Strong experience with computers, internet, smart phone/tablet, and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Understanding of a wide range of sports at different levels of play (i.e. H.S., College, Professional) and/or show production (i.e. entertainment, places of worship, concerts, etc.) is advantageous.
  • 6 CEUs in telecom, electronics, industrial wiring, and/or safety within the previous two years is advantageous.

Required Education and Licensing

  • Minimum 1 year of similar work experience with an Associates of Science in a technology or related field; or a Bachelor of Science in a technology or related field; or minimum 3 years of similar work experience; or a Trade Degree in Networking Technology.
