Audit Manager

Description

Reports to PIC for each engagement and the audit department head.

Major Function: Involved in managing virtually all areas of servicing client’s financial statement and financial management needs.

Nature & Scope of Responsibilities: Responsible for organizing and managing audits. The audit manager will oversee a group of clients as PIC. They will distribute work assignments, supervise staff and communicate with clients. They should be active in the business development of the firm.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Client Service:

• Maintain client contact for assigned clients, typically both audit and tax clients
• Management of the client engagements for financial statement services and tax services
• Assume financial assignments within area of expertise. Most often this is review and not field work or drafting of financial statements
• Maintain expertise and knowledge of financial state rules and pronouncements
• Perform tax planning with clients

Staff Development:

• Provide feedback on staff performance to assist in the training and development of staff - for both direct supervisees and other staff
• Directly supervise staff - perform semi-annual evaluations, offer support and guidance, help the staff to develop and grow

Practice Development:

• Develop new client contact and relationships beneficial to the firm
• Actively market and promote the firm to potential client sources
• Take an active role in professional, civic or charitable organizations
• Participate in public speaking engagements or provide written articles for publication
• Recognize opportunities to provide additional service to existing clients

Practice Management:

• Know, understand, follow and enforce the firm’s policies and procedures
• Assist in firm administrative functions as assigned by department heads or partners
• Overall responsibility to monitor progress of engagements under their charge in relation to budgets and due dates
• Evaluate and develop efficient and improved procedural systems for delivering financial services

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field plus 8-10 years of experience.
• CPA license required.
• Extensive experience in Auditing.
• Excellent client services skills.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Solid knowledge of regulations and guidelines.
• Knowledge of GAAP guidelines
