Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Location: This is a full-time, on-site opportunity based in Portland, Maine. New employees typically work full-time in the office during their first year to build strong relationships and become fully integrated with the team, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule afterward if preferred. Our employee-first culture also provides flexibility when personal needs arise.

Note: Candidates must have 2+ years of audit and attest experience within public accounting and have progressed beyond a purely Associate-level role, with experience reviewing work, supervising junior professionals, or taking meaningful ownership of engagements. A CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure is required.

Job Description

  • Plan and execute audit and attest engagements from initial planning through completion.
  • Prepare and review engagement workpapers, financial statements, footnotes, and related reports.
  • Collaborate closely with Managers and Partners on engagements across multiple industries.
  • Apply GAAP and professional auditing standards to address technical accounting and audit matters.
  • Serve as a key day-to-day contact for clients and help maintain strong, responsive relationships.
  • Review and delegate work to junior accounting professionals.
  • Train, mentor, and support Associate-level team members in their technical and professional development.
  • Identify client issues and provide thoughtful, value-added insights throughout engagements.
  • Manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining high standards for quality and accuracy.
  • Contribute to a supportive, client-focused, and team-oriented culture.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of public accounting audit and attest experience.
  • Current or prior Senior-level audit responsibilities, including engagement ownership, workpaper review, or junior staff supervision.
  • CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field with substantial accounting coursework.
  • Coursework sufficient to meet CPA licensure requirements.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and professional auditing standards.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and audit workpapers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
  • Experience with Caseware, CaseView, Suralink, or similar audit software preferred.
