Job Description - Auto Piant and Body Mechanic

Key Responsibilities

Damage Assessment: Inspect vehicles to determine the extent of damage and recommend repair strategies
Structural Repairs: Straighten frames, align wheels, and repair or replace body panels, bumpers, fenders, doors, and windows
Metalwork & Welding: Perform welding, metal cutting, and frame straightening to restore structural integrity
Painting & Finishing: Prepare surfaces by sanding, priming, and masking; mix and apply paint to match original color; apply clear coats and wax
Detailing & Refinishing: Fill dents and cavities with body filler, grind and sand for smooth surfaces, and reassemble vehicle components
Accessory & Interior Work: Remove and reinstall upholstery, trim, and accessories as needed
Quality Control: Inspect all work for defects, ensuring repairs meet factory and dealership standards
Safety & Compliance: Follow OSHA, EPA, and other regulations for hazardous materials handling and waste disposal

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proficiency in using hand and power tools, welding equipment, paint sprayers, and body shop machinery
Strong knowledge of automotive systems, mechanics, and body repair techniques.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and repair manuals.
Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or in a team.
Understanding of color matching and paint chemistry.
Good communication and customer service skills.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED; technical school certificate in automotive technology or body repair preferred.
1–4 years of hands-on experience in auto body repair and painting.
Certification in welding, painting, or automotive technology is a plus.
