What does an Automotive Technician B Level Do?

• Perform maintenance and repair services including brakes, suspension, steering, cooling, exhaust, and fuel systems.


• Conduct moderate diagnostic procedures on electrical and mechanical issues.


• Perform engine performance checks and repairs such as tune-ups, timing belts, and driveability concerns.


• Conduct inspections to identify worn parts and necessary services.


• Use diagnostic tools, scan equipment, and technical manuals to troubleshoot issues.


• Document all repairs and services performed in compliance with dealership/manufacturer standards.


• Maintain high standards for quality and safety on all work completed.


• Collaborate with A-Level Technicians on advanced repairs and continue developing diagnostic skills.


• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Typically 2–5 years of professional automotive repair experience.


• Skills:
  
  
  
  • Solid understanding of automotive systems (engine, transmission, brakes, steering, suspension, HVAC, and electrical).
  
  
  • Ability to perform a wide range of mechanical repairs with minimal supervision.
  
  
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  
  
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and scan equipment.
  
  
  
  


• Other Requirements:
  
  
  
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  
  
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.

• Accurately diagnose and repair common vehicle concerns with minimal rework.


• Progress toward advanced diagnostic training and certifications.


• Maintain strong communication with service advisors and team members.
