Advanced Process Technologies, Inc. (APT) is looking to add an Automation and Controls Team Lead to join our team. The Automation and Controls Team Lead is responsible for coordinating a team of Controls Engineers in performing daily automation programming and electrical project activities. This position will oversee controls engineering project requirements involving control system & panel design, PLC & HMI programming, instrumentation specification, and start-up assistance. The Controls Team Lead is responsible for managing a team of 4-8 people to meet customer and project requirements regarding scope, scheduling, and budgets under the guidance of the Vice President of Project Engineering. This position will be responsible for managing a project portfolio ranging from $2M + while partnering with our Process Engineers to complete projects in the $50M+ range.
Located in Cokato, MN, you will work at our headquarters alongside our experts in engineering, manufacturing, and the food and dairy industry.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee the design, development, and implementation of control systems to meet process system requirements.
Oversee PLC programming, HMI programming, in-house program testing and customer Factory Acceptance Testing.
Own projects from idea to implementation, including participating in the commissioning and start-up process both remotely and at the customer job site(s).
Manage, train, mentor, and develop a team of control engineers.
Partner with Process Engineers in developing the control system strategies and equipment list.
Plan and schedule resources to meet key controls engineering project deliverables.
Coordinate between different departments to ensure project alignment.
Manage schedules and manpower budgets to execute projects.
Maintain proper engineering files and records for projects.
Participate in technical development and design review efforts.
Oversee the testing of control panels and the setup of instruments and devices.
Member of the on-call support team for existing customers' technical support.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, OR Equivalent years of experience in automation.
6+ years of experience in custom automation.
An in-depth understanding of control systems, components, logic programming, experience with instrumentation and controls design, and PLC systems (specifically Rockwell).
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision to meet deliverables.
3+ years of experience managing a team.
Strong demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work well with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
Travel up to 30%.
Preferred
Experience with AutoCAD.
Experience with Ignition and/or Wonderware.
Experience within the food and beverage industry.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range $115,000.00 - $150,000.00
The salary range provided reflects the anticipated base compensation for this position.
