STEM DTS is seeking an experienced Automation Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, installation, and launch of advanced automation and manufacturing systems within a high-volume automotive production environment. This role will be responsible for managing automation and system integration projects from concept development and line scoping through installation, commissioning, and production launch. The ideal candidate combines strong project management expertise with hands-on automation experience and a proven track record delivering capital equipment and manufacturing automation projects in the automotive industry. This individual will serve as the primary project leader, coordinating engineering, manufacturing, integrators, suppliers, and plant operations teams to successfully implement automated production systems that improve safety, throughput, quality, and operational efficiency. This is a hybrid position based in Charleston, South Carolina.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead automation and system integration projects from concept development through installation, commissioning, and production launch.

Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.

Manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, quality, maintenance, safety, and external suppliers.

Scope and implement automated manufacturing lines, robotic systems, and production equipment.

Oversee equipment installation, system integration, FAT/SAT activities, and launch readiness.

Manage supplier and integrator performance, technical deliverables, and project execution.

Ensure all equipment and processes comply with company, OSHA, RIA, and applicable safety standards.

Drive achievement of throughput, quality, safety, and productivity targets.

Support production ramp-up, issue resolution, and successful transition of systems to plant operations.
