Automation Service Application Engineer

The Service Application Engineer quotes and supports DeShazo Automation's service business with existing customers. That business covers spare parts and consumables for DeShazo-built equipment, field service support for installed automation equipment, and small custom projects. Working with the Account Manager, this position turns customer requests into accurate, competitive quotes, visiting customer plants as needed to review needs and applications. When service workload allows, the position supports the senior Application Engineers on concepts, estimates, and proposals.

DUTIES:

• Receives and reviews service RFQs from existing customers, clarifying requirements before quoting.

• Quotes spare parts and consumables for DeShazo-built equipment, developing shop labor and material costs.

• Quotes field service work, including programming changes and maintenance support, working with controls programmers to define scope and labor.

• Quotes small custom projects with support from senior Application Engineers.

• Visits customer plants as needed to review needs and applications.

• Prepares quotes in the ERP system and delivers them to customers.

• Releases won service orders to Purchasing, Production, and Engineering as appropriate.

• Supports senior Application Engineers with concept, estimate, and proposal tasks when service workload allows.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• 3+ years of quoting or estimating experience in manufacturing, machining, or automation

• Experience estimating labor and material costs for machined or fabricated parts

• Mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to understand automation equipment and customer applications

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings

• Mechanical design experience, including concept modeling in SolidWorks, preferred

• Clear, professional written and verbal communication with customers

• Ability to travel occasionally to customer facilities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This position is primarily desk-based, requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use.

• Occasional travel to customer facilities, including walking production and plant floor areas.
