Automotive Controller — High-Volume Dealership

Location: Jacksonville, FL (on-site) Compensation: $170,000+  Reports to: CFO / General Manager

The Opportunity

We're a high-volume [franchise] dealership in Jacksonville moving [XXX+] units a month, and we're looking for a Controller who wants ownership of the office — not a seat in someone else's accounting department.

This is a hands-on role at a store where the financial statement actually drives decisions. You'll close the books, defend the numbers in the manager meeting, and have a direct line to ownership. If you've been the person who finds the money nobody else saw, we want to talk.

What You'll Own

• Prepare and submit the monthly factory financial statement on time, every time
  
• Own the full close: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end reporting
  
• Keep every schedule clean and current — no aged items hiding in the receivables
  
• Manage contracts in transit and drive funding turnaround
  
• Reconcile floorplan, cash, and bank accounts daily
  
• Oversee payroll and commission plans for sales, service, and fixed ops
  
• Lead and develop the office team: AP/AR, title clerks, billers, and deal processors
  
• Build and enforce internal controls that protect the store from loss and fraud
  
• Partner with department managers on expense control, gross reconciliation, and forecasting
  
• Manage sales tax filings, tag and title compliance, and manufacturer chargeback recovery
  
• Handle audits, LIFO, and year-end work with the CPA firm
  

What You Bring

• 3+ years as a dealership Controller or Office Manager at a high-volume store — dealership experience is required
  
• Command of a dealer management system: [CDK / Reynolds & Reynolds / Tekion / Dealertrack]
  
• Deep knowledge of the factory financial statement and how each line gets built
  
• Track record of clean, current schedules and on-time closes
  
• Comfort holding managers accountable to the numbers without becoming the obstacle
  
• Working knowledge of Florida title, tag, and sales tax requirements
  
• Leadership instincts — you develop the office staff, you don't just supervise them
  

Nice to have: multi-rooftop or dealer group experience, DMS conversion experience, accounting degree or CPA.
