Sheehy Lexus of Richmond is seeking an experienced Automotive Reconditioning Manager to oversee the entire pre-owned vehicle reconditioning process. This role is responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are prepared to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with the ability to manage technicians, detailers, and vendors while optimizing workflow and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of the reconditioning process, including mechanical inspection, detailing, cosmetic repair, and final quality control.


• Ensure vehicles are reconditioned to meet company standards in a cost-efficient manner, targeting a 5-day cycle time.


• Develop, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cycle time, cost per vehicle, and labor efficiency.


• Coordinate workflow between internal departments and external vendors to minimize delays.


• Recruit, train, and supervise technicians, detailers, and support staff.


• Implement and maintain standardized reconditioning procedures and continuous improvement practices.


• Maintain accurate records of parts, labor, and vendor services.


• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.


• Communicate daily with sales managers to prioritize vehicle flow and reduce bottlenecks.


• Monitor equipment maintenance and supply inventory to prevent downtime.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.


• 5+ years of experience in automotive reconditioning, service management, or a related operational leadership role.


• ASE Certification or technical background. Preferred


• Must be able to multitask and deal with conflicting priorities. 


• Strong knowledge of vehicle repair, detailing, parts, and reconditioning workflows.


• Proven leadership and team-building abilities with a focus on process improvement.


• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.


• Proficiency with reconditioning software (e.g., LoopMeIn), DMS platforms, and Excel/Google Sheets.


• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.


• Able to pass pre-employment background checks, MVR, and drug screen


• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
