Automotive Shop Manager

We are seeking a diligent Shop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Chicago garage at Sally!  In this role, you will supervise all personnel, oversee the management and maintenance of equipment, and ensure the efficiency of operations. The Shop Manager we’re looking for is highly organized, has excellent communication skills, and is able to anticipate and solve challenges related to operational efficiency.

What you’ll do

• Hire, train, and manage a team of automotive technicians, mechanics and fleet associates


• Prepare employee work schedules


• Ensure all staff adhere to safety standards, company policies, and procedures


• Manage and account for all money-handling procedures


• Order, record, and manage inventory for automotive parts


• Maintain and implement equipment maintenance schedule


• Ensure all vehicle repairs are done correctly


• Develop efficient routines and process


• Source, cultivate and maintain relationships for best pricing available with Vendors


• Improve technician efficiency and procedures


• Ensure the shop is adequately stocked, clean, and visually appealing


• Meet or exceed KPI’s implemented by Management


• Motivate employees to reach goals and stay on schedule


• Track and document work done and understanding how to improve metrics

What we look for

• 1-3 years of experience as a shop foreman or similar automotive experience


• High school diploma or GED


• Valid driver's license


• Ability to think analytically and implement solutions


• Proficiency in Excel + tech savviness 


• A great understanding of work optimization techniques


• Knowledge of the applicable safety regulations and procedures


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Strong leadership abilities


• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills

Compensation range: $75,000 - $120,000 annual salary
