Automotive Smog Technician (repair license required (Hiring Bonus)

Position Description: The Automotive Technician is responsible for inspecting and repair, SMOG, maintaining, and repairing cars and light trucks. She/he provides the mechanical support for the dealership. Requires proficient use of tools, such as: computerized diagnostic tools and power tools (pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding torches, jacks, and hoists).

  Smog Inspections:
  
  
  
  • Perform accurate and efficient smog inspections on a variety of vehicles according to state regulations.
  
  
  • Utilize state-approved smog inspection equipment and software.
  
  
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle emissions systems to pass smog inspections.
  
  
  • Maintain accurate and complete inspection records.
  
  
  • Adhere to all state and federal smog inspection regulations.
  
  
  
  


• 
  Vehicle Repair:
  
  
  
  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle emission system components, including:
    
    
    
    • Catalytic converters
    
    
    • Oxygen sensors
    
    
    • EGR valves
    
    
    • PCV valves
    
    
    • Mass airflow sensors
    
    
    • Evaporative emissions systems
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Perform necessary repairs accurately and efficiently.
  
  
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot emission system problems.
  
  
  • Advise customers on necessary repairs and provide accurate cost estimates.

Qualifications:

• 
  Required:
  
  
  
  • Valid and current state-issued smog inspection license.
  
  
  • ASE certifications in Engine Repair and/or Emissions Repair (preferred).
  
  
  • Proven experience in automotive repair, with a focus on emissions systems.
  
  
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  
  
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  
  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  
  
  
  


•

  • Experience with a variety of vehicle makes and models.
  
  
  • Knowledge of dealership management systems.

Refrigerant Handling License & Master Automobile Technician Certification required.
