Position Overview
This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday, approximately 7:30am – 4:00pm, working on-site at our Will Rogers Maintenance facility location in Vinita, OK.
The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) Maintenance division is seeking a dedicated and experienced Fleet Specialist (level III) to join our team. In this role, the Fleet Specialist is responsible for mechanical/technical work in the repair and maintenance of automobile, truck, heavy equipment, or other engines or motors and related assemblies or in the supervision/management of a fleet maintenance or repair facility.
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is $25.48 ($53,000 annually).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The functions performed in this job family may include the following:
Perform major and minor preventative maintenance service vehicles and equipment; diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic problems; operate diagnostic tools and computer software; weld and fabricate
Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work environment; inspect and test equipment for safety and proper working order.
Complete paperwork and assist in writing specifications; maintain workplace inventory; order parts and supplies to maintain an inventory of parts.
Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical personnel which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis while performing roadside assistance, towing needs, and rollback services.
May need to report to work outside of normal working hours for emergency operations.
Perform necessary research investigation, analysis, and reporting for the equipment fleet; make recommendations for purchase, replacement, or reassignment of equipment within a division; write preliminary specifications for equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
At least three (3) years of experience in automobile, truck, light or heavy-duty road equipment, combustion engines or chassis maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of education/training as an Automotive/Diesel Mechanic.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and must be willing and able to perform all job-related in-state travel associated with the position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and reach; talk and hear. Routinely, employees are required to sit or stand for periods of time; to manipulate objects, tools or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employees must regularly lift 80 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Must be able to successfully pass a physical and drug test.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the tools, equipment and terminology of the mechanical trade; of diagnosing problems with light and heavy duty equipment; of the functioning of internal combustion engines; of drive systems and other systems in various types of vehicles and other equipment; of parts-ordering procedures within the assigned shop; and of repair costs and costs of new equipment.
Ability is required to use diagnostic tools; to read and understand parts manuals, service manuals, and schematics; to follow verbal and written instructions; to perform advanced and technical repairs, including the use of welding equipment; to direct the work of other mechanics and helpers; and to use highly technical diagnostic tools such as lab scopes, scanners and computer software.
Level Descriptor
This is the specialist level, where employees are assigned responsibilities for performing highly skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of specialized and heavy duty equipment. Responsibilities may include trouble-shooting repair needs which are difficult to identify; independently completing major repair projects, or directing projects requiring a team effort, may direct or review work of others.
