We are looking for an Audio/Visual (AV) Engineer with an events focus to lead the technical execution and user experience for in-house events across our New York office. While technical execution is important in this role, we also need someone process oriented and a programmatic thinker. As our event volume grows-with tech-supported events increasing approximately 25% year over year-we need a dedicated role to own the end-to-end event experience for everyone involved.
In this role, alongside coordinating all event processes and logistics, you will act as the technical director for events held in our auditoriums, classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, and offsite locations. You'll partner with event organizers to understand their vision and translate it into a seamless run of show, creating exceptional experiences for both in-person and remote participants.
You'll oversee technical delivery and vendor management while driving continuous improvement and scalable standards across our global offices.
In addition to driving event operations, you'll flex into other areas as needed, such as conference room support, deployments, or project work.
Additional responsibilities of this role will include:
Overseeing end-to-end technical delivery of campus events: town halls, presentations, hybrid meetings, social events, and offsites
Coordinating setup, operation, and strike of AV equipment for events
Managing day-to-day operations of contingent AV event technicians and operators
Troubleshooting and acting as the main technical escalation for event-related AV issues
Partnering with our Managed Service Provider to ensure adequate staffing levels and skill coverage, defining SLAs, and holding vendors accountable to quality standards
Managing scheduling, resource allocation, and workload distribution across events
Providing feedback on AV system design based on user needs and recurring issues, and recommending AV technology investments for event spaces
Supporting scheduling, coordinating, and metrics collection for event forecasting
Developing and maintaining runbooks and technical workflows for common event scenarios, documenting best practices and technical standards for global replication, and building training materials and playbooks for other office locations
Creating a measurement framework for event quality and user satisfaction
About You
Have 7+ years of experience in AV event production, live events, or a similar role
Have strong technical production skills and experience operating and troubleshooting complex AV systems in a hybrid event environment
Experience operating and supporting Crestron, Extron, NDI, Shure, Biamp, Dante, and Cisco video conferencing solutions
Comfortable supporting collaboration platforms such as Zoom, Webex, and MS Teams and video distribution platforms
Have excellent interpersonal skills; able to translate user vision into technical execution and provide a holistic support experience
Experience with managing vendor relationships and contingent workers
Able to multitask and manage multiple competing priorities under event pressure
