Job Description - Aviation Purchasing Clerk

Aviation Purchasing Clerk


Avocet MRO Services has an immediate opening at our location in Sanford, Florida for an experienced Aviation Purchasing Clerk.  Benefits include Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, 401K, and Medical/Dental/Vision/Supplemental Insurance.


 


Summary


Responsible for procuring aircraft parts, equipment, and related materials to support the operational needs of Aviation MRO Services. They will evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage the purchasing process to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of standards.




Key Responsibilities



  • Sourcing and Procurement: Identifying qualified suppliers, soliciting quotes, and negotiating contracts for the purchase of aircraft parts, components, and related equipment.

  • Inventory Management: Monitoring inventory levels, forecasting demand, and coordinating with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure adequate stock of critical parts.

  • Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, including airlines, maintenance facilities, aircraft operators.

  • Aviation Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with aircraft parts, maintenance procedures, and relevant aviation regulations and safety standards.

  • Negotiation and Communication Skills: Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing and terms, and strong communication skills to interact effectively with suppliers and internal teams.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and solve complex procurement problems.

  • Computer skills: Proficiency in using procurement software, and Microsoft Office.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize inventory management and meet customer demands.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to inform sales strategies and decision-making.


 


Position Requirements



  • Minimum 18+ months experience in aircraft Purchasing

  • Familiarity with inventory management systems (such as ILS) and ERP systems (such as Pentagon) preferred

  • Strong computer skills - including logging in and managing accounts on multiple sites, searching online for information on parts and pricing, using email software, etc.

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in semi-remote setting

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings and industry events

  • Self-motivated with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service

  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • High school diploma or equivalent required




Qualifications

Education/Experience:


Minimum 18+ months of Purchasing experience required.


Minimum 18+ months of related experience in aviation required.



Language Ability:


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to fill out routine paperwork.  Must read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.



Math Ability:


Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, dimensions, and distance.



Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
