Job Description - Avionic/Aircraft Instrument Technician

JOB PURPOSE                                                                                                                                                  


The Avionic/Aircraft Instrument Technician will test, troubleshoot, diagnose component level repair and modify a variety of aviation instruments and accessories to ensure perfect function and provide the customer with reliable and highest quality repairs.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Essential Job Functions:



  • Read and interpret complex aircraft wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and technical orders.

  • Troubleshoot, test, and repair avionics and electronic systems to the component level using electronic test equipment and technical publications.

  • Apply knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory, Wheatstone bridge theory, Ohm’s Law, and signal conditioning for various aircraft sensors.

  • Utilize test equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, dielectric testers, frequency generators, and counters to perform diagnostics.

  • Perform precision soldering on wires and connectors; use crimping tools, wire strippers, continuity testers, and perform pin-out testing for MIL-SPEC connectors.

  • Route, secure, and tie-wrap cables in accordance with aviation standards and best practices.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities in accordance with FAA and company procedures.

  • Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, and other technicians to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work environment.

  • Operate effectively with Windows-based computer systems and maintenance tracking software.

  • Communicate fluently in English, both written and verbal, to ensure accurate technical documentation and compliance with aviation safety protocols.


WORKING CONDITIONS


 Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent walking, bending, and reaching to shoulder level. Requires occasional squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 20 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.


Work Location: PAG Velocity, Burbank CA.


 JOB SPECIFICATIONS


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Ability to organize and plan work adhering to deadlines; attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality of information; excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy; ability to read, write, and understand the English language and to follow verbal and written instruction; multi-tasking a necessity; thorough knowledge of 145 repair station standard practices and procedures; ability to type with accuracy and speed; ability to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers and to project a positive, concerned image to the public; ability to work without supervision; ability to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances and priorities.


Experience:   Minimum 3 years’ experience in electronic repair, knowledge of Wheatstone bridge theory and ohms law. Experience in a 145 repair station a plus.


Pay Range: $27-$30
