The Associate Vice President of Clinical Cancer Services is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction, clinical operational oversight, and professional leadership for a comprehensive range of patient-centered clinical support programs across the ambulatory oncology service line. Summary
The Associate Vice President of Clinical Cancer Services is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction, clinical operational oversight, and professional leadership for a comprehensive range of patient-centered clinical support programs across the ambulatory oncology service line. This AVP will ensure high-quality, coordinated, and evidence-based care delivery, enhancing the patient and family experience throughout the cancer journey. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, nursing, ambulatory and hospital administrative leadership to align support services with the organization's strategic goals and regulatory requirements across domains.

Job Duties
  • Strategic Leadership and Program Development: Develop and execute the strategic vision for patient-centered support services, including navigation, nutrition, social work, and counseling programs. Lead efforts to enhance existing programs and develop new initiatives to meet the evolving needs of oncology patients and families.

  • Operational Oversight: Collaborate with management and SL experts to support day-to-day operations of multidisciplinary services, ensuring efficiency, quality, and seamless integration with inpatient and outpatient clinical operations. Optimize resource utilization and implement process improvements to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes.

  • Clinical and Professional Direction: Provide professional guidance and mentorship to clinical program leaders, managers and staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. Ensure all staff operate in accordance with professional standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OCN, ONS, AONN, ASCO, CoC, NAPBC, AOSW, APeX standards/guidelines, etc.).

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with the oncology care team (physicians, nurses, researchers, etc.) and key functional stakeholders (finance, HR, quality, etc.) to ensure a truly integrated approach to patient care. Facilitate effective communication and problem-solving among different disciplines and departments.

  • Quality Improvement & Compliance: Monitor all patient care programs to ensure high-quality, patient-centered, and safe programs. Utilize data, metrics, and performance dashboards to guide decision-making, drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, and maintain compliance with accreditation standards. Serve as the clinical expert to assist in creating new data dashboards and reports with meaningful clinical variables to better demonstrate clinical excellence.

  • Financial Management: Collaborate with leadership on budget preparation and long-range financial planning for clinical cancer support services. Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to optimize resource allocation and ensure fiscal responsibility.

  • Community Engagement & Advocacy: Collaborate with stakeholders in Population Science, Community Outreach & Engagement (COE), Population Health, and others to further strengthen community relationships and partnerships to advance equitable cancer care and connect patients with external resources. Actively participate in community activities and collaborate with executive leadership on philanthropy efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree Nursing
  • 10 years Oncology experience, inclusive of management and operational oversight in medical oncology, infusion services, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, supportive cancer services, and cancer registry and

  • 7 years Progressive management or leadership experience in oncology, with a history of managing multidisciplinary teams and programs and

  • 5 years Progressive nursing and operations leadership experience in an academic health system or cancer center, with demonstrated success leading across multiple campuses/sites.
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate Nursing
  • NCI-designated experience and knowledge.

  • Proven large system integration success.
  • OCN - Oncology Certified Nurse - Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
