Summary:

The AVP Planning, Design & Construction has responsibility for overseeing the planning and execution of all design and construction projects, whether new construction, renovation or expansion. Responsible for development and management of facility master plans as well spatial planning and management for the entire Cook Children’s Health Care System. Responsible for leading the Planning, Design & Construction Department in support of all the system’s current and future operations. Direct reports include Director, Construction and Director, Facility Planning or Sr. Project Architect.

Education & Experience

• Master’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field is strongly required.

• Minimum of 12 years leadership in design and construction.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Experience in hospital facilities construction and facility management, including management level experience is required.

• Experience in leading major construction projects is required.

• Solid understanding of healthcare facilities, and construction principles, laws, and regulations is required.

• Solid understanding of financial controls and reporting related to construction and facilities is required.

• Excellent communication, relationship building, and project management skills are required.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

• PE, RA, PMP, CHFM or CHC certification is desirable.
