Job Overview:

The AVP of Data Governance will partner closely with the Business, Product, and Technology Data Owners and Data Stewards to drive key elements of our Enterprise Data Operating Model implementation. Success in this role requires cross company collaboration and an understanding of business challenges, governance, processes, data structures and data architecture. Our team focuses on representing data as a strategic business asset to help serve our clients. You'll focus on implementing prioritized elements of our Enterprise Data Operating Model, including improving our level of enterprise maturity across several Data Capabilities as well as continuous monitoring to regularly assess the effectiveness of implemented elements.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the certification process across our systems of record. This involves working with experts across business, product, and technology as the execute on our playbook and ensure consistency, accuracy, timeliness, validity, and completeness.
Accountable for adoption of defined data policies, standards and best practices
Partners with the business, technology, and other relevant stakeholders to catalog and manage business metadata while establishing and maintaining a stewardship network for data domains
Collaborate with resources from the Business and Technology on various projects and initiatives to achieve governance objectives
Performs data profiling and research to understand relevant data elements along with their definitions and use
Document and maintain data standards, partnering with business data owners to map data lineage, usage, and common definitions
Design, build, and execute efficient and accurate control structures to assess data quality and compliance to data governance policy and standards
Lead and advance data governance principles and programs for stewardship, advocacy, and custodianship of data
Draft data governance policies and standards and assess/monitor enterprise adherence.
Ensure supporting data governance artifacts (standard operating procedures, desk-top processes, etc.) are created, controlled, managed and maintained over time.
Work with the business units to define and document Business Metadata for critical data
Evaluate large datasets for quality and accuracy ensuring adherence to data quality standards.
Collaborate with data owners and users to modify or implement new repeatable and reliable businesses processes
Assist Data Governance leadership in the delivery of all data governance projects and initiatives

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or related discipline and 5 to 7+ years of experience in data governance or data management
Related hands-on project experience working with metadata, data quality, data cataloging, policies, and learning & development
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and manage changing priorities
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with business and technical teams
Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI), and exposure to data governance toolsets (Collibra, Informatica, data.world, Manta, etc.)
Fluency in data related practices including data management, data governance, architecture, and data & analytics
Capable of strong critical thinking skills and the ability to ask relevant questions to improve processes, identify issues/gaps, and build efficiencies
Core Competencies:

Demonstrates data analysis skills and the ability to work independently
Ability to communicate thoughts/designs/ideas in an unambiguous manner and adjusts communication based on audience
Exhibits active and effective communication skills with team members - including active listening and effective written and verbal communication skills
Able to accurately estimate the tasks and resources needed to complete assigned project work
Understanding of business areas and the overall enterprise use of data
Ability to lead concurrent initiatives and prioritize or call out if prioritization assistance is needed
Preferences:

Experience with data governance and quality tools like Collibra, Informatica, Alation, etc.
Excellent communication skills and collaboration with experience in technical writing, storytelling, or requirements writing
Ability to communicate thoughts/designs/ideas in an unambiguous manner and adjusts communication based on audience
Exhibits active and effective communication skills with team members - including active listening and effective written and verbal communication skills
Related hands-on project experience working with metadata, data quality, data cataloging, policies, and learning & development

Pay Range:
$104,160-$156,240/year

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
