Description

The Associate Vice President (AVP), Project Management serves as the senior system‑level leader for the System PMO, accountable for a unified system‑wide delivery agenda integrating strategic plans, enterprise roadmaps, and capital investment portfolios.

The AVP has executive authority and accountability for governing and optimizing all large, cross‑functional initiatives across technology, operations, clinical, facilities, and administrative domains. This includes reconciling competing priorities, sequencing work across the enterprise, optimizing use of delivery capacity and capital, and proactively managing risk to ensure organizational value is maximized.

Partnering closely with executive sponsors, system leadership, and external partners, the AVP ensures disciplined governance, transparency, and execution across the full portfolio of enterprise work. The role also establishes and sustains a mature, system‑level PMO capability that enables consistent decision‑making, delivery assurance, and long‑term organizational scalability.
 

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the enterprise executive accountable for a unified system‑wide delivery agenda integrating strategic plans, enterprise roadmaps, and capital investment portfolio
  • Establish governance and exercise decision authority to drive prioritization, sequencing, and reconciling competing initiatives across the full portfolio of enterprise work
  • Optimize deployment of delivery resources, capital, and capacity to maximize organizational value and minimize delivery risk
  • Provide executive oversight and governance for all large, cross‑functional initiatives spanning technology, clinical, operations, facilities, and administrative domains
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure transparency, disciplined decision‑making, and alignment between strategy, investment, and execution
  • Proactively identify, surface, and resolve portfolio‑level risks, dependencies, and conflicts impacting enterprise outcomes
  • Lead vendor and partner strategy for complex, multi‑year initiatives, including oversight of procurement, financial commitments, and performance
  • Build, mature, and sustain a system‑level PMO operating model that enables scalable services, delivery assurance, and long‑term enterprise readiness
     

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's (MBA, MHA, or equivalent) strongly preferred. 
  • More than 5 years of experience required
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise portfolio, program, or transformation management
  • Demonstrated success operating at the executive level in large, complex, matrixed organizations
  • Proven experience integrating strategy, capital planning, and execution in healthcare or similarly regulated, multientity environments
  • Experience with largescale technology platforms (e.g., Epic), mergers and acquisitions, and enterprise transformation initiatives preferred
  • Enterprise leadership mindset with the ability to balance strategy, investment, risk, and execution
  • Advanced portfolio and capital governance expertise
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, challenge, and align senior leaders
  • Exceptional judgment in prioritization, tradeoff decisionmaking, and conflict resolution
  • Financial acumen related to capital planning, multiyear cost models, and vendor ecosystems
  • Ability to lead through complexity, ambiguity, and significant organizational change
  • Commitment to transparency, accountability, and disciplined execution
