What's the job?

In this role you will lead the overall food experience of a single GGET location. You will ensure a safe food environment for all guests and team members. You will provide excellent support for the Kitchen Team, training them on relevant SOPs, kitchen skills, and menu knowledge. You will ensure the BOH space is organized and is a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities - these are the reasons this job exists
Ensure quality, quantity, taste, and safety of food produced
Performs QC checks; inspects all orders received for quality and completeness; regularly tastes food produced for service
Ensures food safety protocols are in place and being followed at all times (e.g. temperature and hold times, sanitation, food storage hierarchy, hand washing)
Maintains proper pars, waste, and ordering systems
Trains all kitchen staff on allergens
Train and develop the Kitchen Team
Identifies skill gaps and development areas for the team
Provides coaching/training on 10 principles of service
Trains team and hold accountable to food menu knowledge and preparation standards
Provides effective coaching and model healthy feedback standards
Ensure you are meeting ticket time goals
Ensures kitchen team is aware of ticket time goals
Ensures team has proper mise en place
Ensures kitchen team is hustling, moving quickly, and getting things done
Runs KDS system
Take ownership of BOH facilities and equipment
Performs regular preventative maintenance of kitchen equipment
Ensures opening and closing checklists are in use
Takes the appropriate action when resolving an issue or repair within the KM's skillset.
Work with the FOH to ensure an excellent guest experience
Ensures kitchen team (BOH) maintains constant communication with cafe team (FOH)
Performs table touches to ensure guest satisfaction; acts on any critical feedback
Communicates 86'd items to entire team

Other Responsibilities

Demonstrate a complete understanding of G&B/Go Get Em Tiger values and standards, including the 10 Principles of Customer Service, as outlined in the company training documents
Foster a team-first atmosphere for all employees by adhering to the above principles
Execute all aspects of food service in an organized, efficient manner
Maintain station and general shop cleanliness
Contribute to positive environment by acting as a team player
Act as a leader and a teacher for all staff
Follow and uphold all systems and protocols for inventory, food/beverage preparation, employee breaks, and bar cleanliness
Ensure that kitchen equipment receives all necessary, regular maintenance
Ensure smooth rollout of new menu items, recipes, techniques, and tools
Increase the overall competency of the staff w/r/t kitchen specific skills and best practices
Ensure all work is consistently conforming to G&B/GGET standards of quality
Always be aware of tasks that must be completed during shift and communicate them as necessary to other staff members via Slack, whiteboard or in person

Qualifications
Firm understanding of G&B/GGET values and standards
A willingness to act as the standard-bearer for those values and standards
Understanding and ability to execute all necessary kitchen functions at a high level
Excitement and eagerness to learn
Detail-oriented
Availability for both weekend days and overall schedule availability
Must be able to provide reliable transportation to/from work and for work-related errands

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Understand and implement our 10 Principles of Service, mission, vision and values
Apply "owner eyes" to all aspects of the shop
Demonstrate mastery of formal staff training, feedback, and shop processes
You have demonstrated a keen eye for detail and the kitchen skills necessary to lead service
You have demonstrated the ability to improve the work -- and the experience -- of the employees around you
You are able to manage up, bringing not only problems but also potential solutions, to your manager
You share our absolute passion for coffee, food, and hospitality
You are able to open and/or close the coffeebar, and posses overall schedule flexibility
You have excellent time management and delegation skills
You are able to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment

Physical Requirements, with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ability to move about the cafe and kitchen space frequently throughout shift
Ability to operate job related tools, such as flat-top griddle and ovens
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers
Ability to frequently move prep items in bins weighing up to 40lbs
Exposure to kitchen environment with hot surfaces
