Job Summary:
As a Baker / Pastry Cook at San Jose Country Club, you will be responsible for producing high-quality baked goods and plated desserts entirely from scratch. This includes a variety of breads, breakfast pastries, and elegant center-of-the-plate desserts for à la carte dining, events, and banquets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of artisan breads and baked goods from scratch
- Create seasonal and innovative plated desserts for lunch and dinner service
- Assist with dessert production for weddings, banquets, and club events
- Maintain consistency, presentation, and quality of all pastry items
- Follow recipes and plating guides, while contributing creative input for specials
- Ensure cleanliness and proper food safety practices in the pastry station
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Chef and culinary team
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a professional baking or pastry role
- Strong bread baking skills (sourdoughs, rolls, specialty loaves, etc.)
- Experience creating composed, from-scratch plated desserts
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Attention to detail and a passion for baking and pastry arts
- Culinary or pastry degree is a plus, but not required
