At Too Sweet Cakes, we prioritize professionalism, efficiency, and uncompromising quality. The Bakery Manager is responsible for leading all day-to-day operations at our Phoenix facility, ensuring seamless production, packaging, and distribution.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes full ownership of both team performance and operational execution. Success in this role requires strong leadership presence, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to consistently drive results through people and process.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
Lead daily stand-up meetings to communicate priorities, assign responsibilities, and ensure accountability
Oversee all bakery operations, including production, packaging, and delivery coordination
Develop and adjust production schedules to meet wholesale and daily demand
Maintain a strong, visible leadership presence during peak hours
Monitor execution and follow through on all assigned tasks
Step in as needed to support operations and resolve bottlenecks
Inventory & Purchasing
Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock without overages or shortages
Source and maintain vendor relationships, ensuring competitive pricing and reliability
Track daily inventory usage and place timely orders
Conduct quarterly inventory audits and enforce FIFO and sanitation standards
Monitor and manage Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) within budget targets
Team Leadership & Development
Create and manage weekly schedules; oversee time punch approvals, PTO, and overtime approvals
Ensure all onboarding documentation is completed prior to first shift
Manage workforce systems including 7Shifts, ADP, and Slack
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with team members and shift leads
Lead team meetings to align on priorities and performance expectations
Execute structured performance reviews:
30-day and 90-day new hire reviews
Ongoing bi-annual performance evaluations
Partner with Regional Manager and HR on disciplinary actions and documentation
Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and clear communication
Administrative & Financial Oversight
Manage bakery email communications, including wholesale accounts and order coordination
Submit weekly receipts and invoices to accounting
Ensure accurate and timely payroll approvals
Maintain records of employee hours, PTO, and sick pay
Equipment & Systems
Train staff on proper use of bakery equipment (mixers, ovens, proofers, etc.)
Ensure equipment is properly maintained and safely operated
Utilize operational systems and tools effectively, including Excel, Wherefour, ADP, and 7Shifts
Health, Safety & Compliance
Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation across all work areas
Promote a respectful, inclusive, and professional workplace
Address conduct issues promptly and enforce company policies
Leadership & Ownership Expectations
Act as the primary owner of both team performance and operational execution, ensuring alignment between people and process
Lead with a hands-on, engaged management style focused on developing team members and driving accountability
Identify gaps in communication, workflow, or execution and implement solutions quickly
Set clear expectations and ensure consistent follow-through
Maintain a leadership presence that the team can rely on daily
Availability & Commitment
This role requires a high level of ownership and responsiveness, including availability for urgent operational needs outside of scheduled shifts
The bakery operates 7 days a week, including holidays, and the manager is expected to support continuity of operations as needed
Comfortable being on-call and stepping in to resolve issues or support the team when necessary
Demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to keeping the operation running smoothly at all times
3–5+ years of bakery or food production management experience
Proven ability to lead teams, enforce accountability, and follow through on commitments
Strong operational mindset with proactive problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Experience with systems such as Excel, Wherefour, ADP, and 7Shifts
Knowledge of bakery equipment and production workflows
Experience managing vendors, purchasing, and inventory
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $70,000 annually
Paid Time Off (PTO): Salaried employees are eligible to use PTO after completing 90 days of employment or a position change. PTO must be used in the year it is granted. Unused PTO does not roll over and is not paid out upon termination or resignation.
Sick Pay: 40 hours of front-loaded sick leave annually (prorated for new hires). Sick leave may be used after 90 days of employment. Unused sick leave does not carry over.
