Summary

Mackenthun’s Bakery Specialist is responsible for packaging and stocking Bakery products onto displays and shelves in the Bakery area.

Mackenthun's Bakery Specialists promote Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience by greeting every customer with a smile and assisting customers with questions about Mackenthun's, Mackenthun's Bakery and Bakery products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Mackenthun's Bakery Specialists are expected to:

Neatly and efficiently slice and package fresh bakery products.

Keep Bakery shelves and displays fully stocked, rotating for freshness.

Set up products for the Bakers.

Help unload and store deliveries.

Clean work areas, bakery shelving and displays, wash dishes, assist with product deliveries, and practice proper safe-handling of food products and personal safety.

Maintain proper sanitation in the department at all times.

Other Duties

Participate in selling events.

Assist with seasonal decorations and displays.

Take customer orders for Bakery products.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not necessary.

Previous Bakery experience preferred but not necessary .

MN Food Manager Certification optional, may be obtained after hire.

Must be skilled in basic math.

Excellent customer service, problem solving, and decision making skills.

Must be honest and dependable, able to work independently and as a team member.

Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed, however primary hours will be 7am to 6pm.

Must be able to clearly speak, read and write English language. Must be able to respectfully and professionally communicate with managers, co-workers and customers.

Have an interest in selling food and a desire to learn the characteristics and qualities of the products and services Mackenthun’s has to offer, in particular Mackenthun’s Signature items.

Minimize department losses due to improper product handling, storage, damage and spoils.

Perform duties in a manner that safeguards company equipment, resources and image.

Provide supervision as needed to ensure excellent customer service and personal productivity.

Physical Demands

Constant Standing/walking/talking/hearing/seeing/ready to respond to department needs at any time during work shift.

Frequent repetitive motions, bending at the waist, reaching arm’s length/above shoulders/below waist, crouching, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs and lifting/carrying 60 lbs. and pulling/pushing up to 1500 lbs. with the use of a pallet jack.

Position requires close/distance/peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision.

Training

Training provided on Mackenthun’s Bakery Standards and processes including equipment operation, food safety, personal safety, harassment prevention.

Baler, Bread Slicer, Candy Cooker, Compactor, Fryer, Fryer Filter, Heavy Lifting, Icing Table, Ladder, Lift Truck, Mixer, Ovens, Pallet Jack, Sinks, Steam Table, Walk-in Coolers, Walk-in Freezers, Wrapper/Sealer, Dishwasher (Age Restrictions Apply)

Work Environment

Must be able to work with and around machine noise, in hot and cold temperatures, on terrazzo flooring in a smoke-free facility in a multifaceted and fast paced environment.

Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
