Baler Operator - with Growth Opportunities

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Baler Operator supports recycling operations by taking material and creating compressed bales for transportation and storage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work in fast-paced environment making over one hundred bales a shift.
• Clean bales of contamination with pliers.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks on baler.
• Drive forklift to place bales in inventory and load trailers.
• General warehouse cleanup at the end of each shift.
• Processing equipment cleanup at the end of each shift.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and business leaders
• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment
• Great organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
• Must be a quick learner; willing and able to operate heavy equipment (crane, forklift, loader etc.)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• 1 year experience operating similar equipment
• 1 year forklift experience
• 1 year experience in either recycling and/or manufacturing environment
• Prior knowledge of metal identification is preferred but not required

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms
• Frequently required to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, speak and hear.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
• Work environment is uncontrolled, with exposure to heat, cold, rain, wind and dust
