Position Overview

A well-established Long Island law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Banking & Commercial Lending practice in East Meadow, NY.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with commercial lending, banking, and/or commercial real estate finance experience to join a sophisticated practice representing institutional and private lenders in a broad range of financing transactions.

The Associate will work alongside experienced attorneys on transactions involving commercial and multifamily real estate, middle-market and small business borrowers, construction financing, asset-based lending, and other secured credit facilities. The role offers meaningful transaction responsibility and exposure to matters from initial structuring and due diligence through documentation, negotiation, and closing.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  

  Represent banks, institutional lenders, private lenders, and other financial institutions in commercial lending and real estate finance transactions

  
  


• 
  

  Handle transactions involving the acquisition, refinancing, development, and construction financing of commercial, multifamily, and mixed-use properties

  
  


• 
  

  Draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements, promissory notes, mortgages, guaranties, security agreements, assignments, and related financing and collateral documents

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with revolving and term loan facilities, construction loans, leasehold financing, asset-based credit facilities, and other secured lending transactions

  
  


• 
  

  Manage transactions throughout the full closing lifecycle, including due diligence, document preparation, negotiation, closing, and post-closing matters

  
  


• 
  

  Review organizational documents, title materials, surveys, leases, UCC searches, and other due diligence materials

  
  


• 
  

  Identify and resolve title, collateral, documentation, and closing issues

  
  


• 
  

  Coordinate directly with lender clients, borrowers and borrowers' counsel, title companies, and other transaction participants

  
  


• 
  

  Manage multiple active transactions and ensure closing requirements, documentation, and deadlines are satisfied

  
  


• 
  

  Provide practical and responsive legal counsel to lender clients throughout the transaction

  
  

Qualifications

• 
  

  Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  
  


• 
  

  Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing

  
  


• 
  

  Prior attorney experience in commercial lending, banking, commercial real estate finance, secured lending, or a closely related transactional practice

  
  


• 
  

  Experience representing lenders and/or borrowers in commercial financing transactions strongly preferred

  
  


• 
  

  Familiarity with commercial loan documentation and the closing process from due diligence through funding

  
  


• 
  

  Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and issue-spotting skills

  
  


• 
  

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  Ability to independently manage multiple transactions, priorities, and deadlines

  Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to client service

  Comfortable working collaboratively with partners, associates, paralegals, clients, and outside transaction parties
