Banquet Captain

Shade Hotel Manhattan Beach is currently seeking a superstar Part-Time Banquet Captain with flexible availability. As the main point of contact for guests at our events, we are looking for people who can make a great first and lasting impression to ensure that their experience is positively unforgettable!

We are looking for someone with more than just great experience.

We are specifically looking for a self-aware individual who will contribute to and enhance our positive culture by being an inspirational leader and true partner to all team members, regardless of department. We want someone who takes great pride in his/her events and ensures that every guest leaves with his or her expectations exceeded. Large egos and those with a victim mentality need not apply.

What you will do:

• Knowledge and understanding of Banquet Event Order forms.
• Assigning staff set up, itinerary & breakdown duties.
• Confirming set up notes are complete prior to staff breaks.
• Maintaining high service standards during the event itinerary.
• Inputting tableside wine charges and monitoring bar tab.
• Completing preparation needs for next day events, including assisting with inventory.
• Closing out the event, completing bar bottle count, setting up the next day floor plan.
• Writing an end-of-the-night event evaluation form, submitting bar receipts to event coordinators.

This position is for you if you…

• Have prior experience as a Banquet Lead or Captain in an upscale hotel environment, with a tenure at each location of at least 2-5 years.
• Are a leader. A lot of people will be looking to you for guidance. Inspire them and hold them accountable to do their jobs well.
• Have an eye for detail and design, and enjoy creating magical experiences for our guests.
• Are ready to work all shifts. You will be working weekends, holidays, and all kinds of other days. But don't worry, we'll make sure you get time to recharge.
• Are ambitious and determined to learn and grow in your career.
• Have magical communication and time management skills.
