Job Description - Banquet Server

Description

  

The Sheraton by Marriott of Eatontown is seeking a positive, service-oriented, energetic leader to join our team as a Banquet Server. The Banquet Server will work closely with the hotel’s F&B staff. 

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
 

* Set up events including chairs, tables, stations, buffet equipment, linens, silver, and china accordance to hotel standards.

* Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility, and uses teamwork when providing guest service.
* Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest issues.
* Serve food, coffee, water and other beverages; refills as needed.
* Clears tables throughout the dining experience using proper methods for removing dishes, glassware and silverware.
* Cleans banquet room and banquet kitchen area during and after banquet functions.

* Performs other duties as required to provide genuine hospitality.

 

As Banquet Server, you will

· Understand Banquet Event Orders to safely, efficiently set up and break down events effectually. 

· Assist service staff to set up and break down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment.

· Efficiently complete prep and side work to enable focused guest care and maintain an orderly, clean station during events.

· Provide friendly, professional guest service with genuine care. Be familiar with menu offerings in order to entice guests with its ingredients and preparations.

· Respond promptly, courteously, and effectively to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns. Know when to alert a manager, should the need arise.

Requirements

  

· Ability to work AM, PM, weekends, and holidays based on business demands.

· Must be reliable, have a positive attitude, and strong work ethic. 

  • Must be neat, clean, motivated, provide professional  appearance.
  • Must possess mature, professional demeanor to interact with vendors, staff and guests. 
  • Must be team oriented and a good team player.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision. Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with other departments, with respect      to chain of command. 
  • Ability to exert physical effort in transporting placement of tables, chairs, trays, and other event related equipment. 
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (5 hours or more per day) and lift up to 50lbs 
  • Excellent listening skills. 

· Must have reliable transportation.

· *Some experience is preferred, but on-the-job training is available for strong candidates*
