Bar Porter
DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage
REPORTS TO: Restaurant Manager
STATUS: Non-exempt
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Retrieves orders from storeroom, visually checks stock and reconciles with written requisitions to ensure order accuracy and re-check stock upon delivery. Manually pushes loaded carts to designated storage area and bars.
· Maintains complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, wines and non-alcoholic selections available. Effectively and efficiently replenishes/restocks bar supplies and beverages when requested.
· Efficiently and effectively brings all supplies including, but not limited to, glassware, mixers, non-alcoholic beverages, beverage napkins and garnishes to the appropriate areas.
· Assists Bartender in preparing the bar by cutting, slicing and peeling perishable garnishes, mixing and pouring juices and storing back-up supplies in prescribed containers.
· Assures that ice bins, soda tanks, and beer kegs are filled at all times.
· Ensures that all bar/bar service area is clean, sanitary, organized and adequately stocked. Removes soiled wares from bar top and tables. Scrubs and mops floors and mats behind bars. Washes glasses to ensure bar is fully stocked. Ensures that the store room is clean and organized.
· Delivers all beverages and necessary bar supplies to banquet functions per Banquet Event Orders. Responds to Bartender needs by running for liquor, glassware, stock, etc. during the event. Packs and returns all liquor, beer, and wine after the end of each function. Responsible for collecting and disposing of all bottles, caps, corks and boxes.
· Empties and cleans all trash containers on a regular basis.
· Informs immediate supervisor of any guest service issues, hazards, product shortages or equipment needs.
· Complies with all sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements. Displays knowledge of all emergency procedures.
· Performs additional duties as directed by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· At least 21 years of age.
· Able to obtain TX ABLE license.
· Fluency in English. Ability to read and interpret Banquet Event Orders.
· Must have basic knowledge of various cleaning equipment, supplies, and chemicals and be able to differentiate between various cleaning products and chemicals for their proper intended use.
· Understands proper hand washing procedures
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain a friendly outgoing personality.
· Ability to effectively communicate with management and peers.
· Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
· Must be available to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Must be able to change a keg of beer.
· Ability to stand on feet or walk up to 8 hours.
· Work requires ability to lift and carry up to 110 - 120 pounds and ability to push and/or pull approximately 300 - 400 pounds on wheels.
· Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. Use hands or fingers, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; reach with hands and arms. Reach at shoulder level and below waist frequently, above head occasionally.
· Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
