At Sagamore Spirit we believe great whiskey deserves a great experience. Our Visitor Center and Whiskey Bar are where guests connect with our craft, and we’re looking for a talented Bar Lead to help us deliver outstanding service, create memorable drinks, and foster a fun, welcoming environment.

Position Overview:
The Bar Lead supports daily bar operations and acts as a shift leader, working closely with both the Hospitality Manager, Director and the rest of the hospitality team to ensure a seamless, high-quality guest experience. This role blends hospitality, bartending excellence, leadership, and a passion for whiskey. The ideal candidate is a hands-on team player, a positive motivator, and someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Help manage inventory, place weekly orders, and track costs.
Maintain restocking, cleanliness, and bar organization.
Lead shifts and ensure smooth bar operations during service.
Act as a point of contact for bar staff questions and needs when management is not present.
Prepare and serve high-quality cocktails and tasting experiences that highlight the brand portfolio
Assist with training new team members on service standards, cocktail recipes, and distillery knowledge.
Support private events, large campus events and private tastings
Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and alcohol service regulations.
Provide an energetic, educational, and welcoming experience for every guest.
All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

2+ years bartending experience (craft cocktail or distillery experience a plus).
Leadership experience or strong interest in developing leadership skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong knowledge of whiskey, spirits, cocktails, and bar operations.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
TIPS, ServSafe, or equivalent certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Familiar with POS systems like Toast, Clover, MICROS or equivalent
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Bar Lead Compensation Rate: $22/hour (2-3 days/week)
Bartending Compensation Rate: $10/hour + gratuity (2-3 days/week)
