Description
OVERVIEW: As the Barback you will be observant and efficient who can work with other staff members to ensure that our customers receive prompt, seamless service. The Bar Back will assist in cleaning the bar, preparing garnishes, ensuring the bar is well stocked with napkins, straws, glassware, garnishes, and all other necessities, and taking on other duties to support the Bartender and ensure that the bar operates smoothly. You should be knowledgeable about menu items, attentive, and focused on providing the best possible service in a fast-paced environment. You should also be able to work with diverse personalities and diffuse tense situations.
Must be available to work weekends and evenings/late nights.
ESSENTIAL CONTRIBUTIONS:
· Deliver a consistently high level of customer service to each guest and maintain a safe environment by identifying problem guests and having them removed.
· Keep bar area clean in accordance with the company guidelines as well as the requirements of the local health department. Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing coolers, storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
· Greet Guests with a smile (and by name if known) and welcome them to the restaurant.
· Mix all drinks based on the serving sizes as outlined to keep drink costs at a minimum and consistent.
· Develop an efficient work pace that keeps the customers at the bar and in the dining room satisfied.
· Know your menu/establishment promotions.
· Ability to effectively communicate on the telephone/to go orders.
· Check identification to verify legal age requirements for all customers.
· Keep a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories.
· Ensure Bartenders have clean towels, clean and polished glassware.
· Organize the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory.
· Slice, pit, and prepare fruit garnishes for drinks.
· Assist in ensuring patrons always have a safe ride home, calling a taxi or Uber when appropriate.
· Checking taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly, making minor repairs or changing out kegs, if needed.
· Special projects as assigned by Supervisor and Manager.
Requirements
· Must be able to articulate clear greetings and farewells to Guests, as well as being able to understand requests for assistance.
· A desire to help out where needed and work as part of a team.
· Passion for providing extraordinary service.
· An appetite for learning (and great food).
· Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
· Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment.
· High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED), preferred.
· Title 4 Liquor Training Certificate and Maricopa County Food Handlers Card required.
