Barista

Job Summary 

A Cafe Barista is in charge of setting and clearing tables at a dining establishment to provide restaurant patrons with a clean and tidy environment. Their duties include removing used dishes, re-setting silverware and filling beverages for diners. We are looking for talent to work our flexible weekly work shift of 32 hours a week with Breakfast and Lunch shifts that start 5:30am to 1:00pm including some weekends. Cash Handling experience is preferred as well as experience working with alcohol.  

Responsibilities

  Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders

  Preparing and serving beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate ones

  Preparing and serving food items such as soups, sandwiches and pastries

  Answering customers’ questions about menu choices 

  
  

• 
  

  Promoting and recommending menu options to customers 

  
  

• 
  

  Taking payment from customers 

  
  

• 
  

  Maintaining inventory and equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs 

  
  

• 
  

  Keeping the work environment sanitary and organized 

  
  

• 
  

  Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service  

  
  

• 
  

  Removing used plates, glasses, cutlery and napkins from tables after diners are done eating 

  
  

• 
  

  Replacing cutlery and glassware in anticipation of new diners 

  
  

• 
  

  Interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner 

  
  

• 
  

  Clear, clean, and prepare tables 

  
  

• 
  

  Bringing out meal orders if waitstaff are busy 

  
  

• 
  

  Escalate guest service issues to management if you are unable to resolve

  Ensure guests are satisfied during their meal service

Qualifications 

• 
  

  Listen well and communicate in a professional and friendly manner

  Practice basic safety procedures with the rep concerning handling hot beverages

  High school diploma or GED preferred

  Minimum of 6 months of server experience

  Experience in hospitality preferred

  Possess basic math skills and cash-handling

  Ability and flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
