Position Summary
The Barista Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Brass Hat coffee counter, ensuring consistent beverage quality, outstanding guest service, and smooth team performance. This role blends hands-on barista work with front line leadership, serving as the primary point of accountability when the F&B Manager is not on-site. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee craft, takes pride in their work, and leads by example.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Service
- Prepare and serve espresso-based beverages, drip coffee, teas, and other menu items to Brass Hat quality and presentation standards
- Maintain accurate and efficient POS transactions; handle cash and credit with integrity
- Monitor product levels and communicate inventory needs to management; assist with weekly and month-end inventory counts
- Ensure all equipment (espresso machines, grinders, brewers) is properly cleaned, maintained, and documented per operational standards
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of the counter for all day parts
Team Leadership
- Supervise barista staff during assigned shifts, providing real-time coaching and direction
- Assist in onboarding and training new baristas on drink recipes, service standards, and procedures
- Serve as the shift leader in the absence of the F&B Manager, making decisions that uphold brand and LRC2 service standards
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment aligned with Hotel Indigo culture and LRC2 values
Guest Experience
- Model genuine, personalized hospitality in every guest interaction
- Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, escalating to management when appropriate
- Champion consistency in product quality and presentation with every order
Compliance & Standards
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health code requirements
- Ensure the counter and surrounding areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and guest-ready condition at all times
- Follow all LRC2 and IHG policies and procedures
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of barista or specialty coffee experience required; supervisory experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of espresso preparation techniques and coffee fundamentals
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and hold a small team accountable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment
- Availability to work flexible shifts including mornings, weekends, and holidays
- ServSafe Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Experience with POS systems preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. (coffee bags, supply deliveries, etc.)
