PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: $60,000 to $75,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Supported as part of a team of experienced engineers, the post will develop to provide IT, technical and operational support, workshop maintenance, incident management and stakeholder communication for internal networks, technology systems, plus legacy and current broadcast equipment at BBC sites across the Americas.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
• Under supervision, use monitoring tools to help identify and diagnose service-impacting issuesacross a range of technologies.
• Perform first line and second line triage of system alerts, logs and telemetry data to determine root cause and appropriate escalation paths.
• Support the investigation and resolution of incidents, working with more experienced engineers where required.
• Logging incidents accurately and documenting all investigative activities including remedial action taken.
• Respond to incidents escalating as appropriate following defined processes.
• Handover of incident and environmental information to colleagues within the team.
• Keep up-to-date with operational changes in a fluid environment; ensuring actions are taken in line with best practice.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Foundational understanding of IT fundamentals (networks, operating systems & hardware,including servers, storage and virtualised environments).
• Demonstrable interest in broadcast & media technology, systems or IT operations.
• Some hands-on technical experience through education, labs, internships, or personal projects.
• Knowledge and experience of working with some current and legacy broadcast equipment.
• Ability to learn quickly and follow technical processes.
• Strong organisational skills and ability, with guidance, to prioritise and plan, working under pressure while maintaining standards
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
• Exposure to broadcast or media technology through study, projects, or work experience.
• Familiarity with cloud storage platforms (e.g., Dropbox, OneDrive, SharePoint).
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, iOS, Linux or other operating systems.
• Awareness of web technologies or databases.
