This is a seasonal position, May 12-Sep 1.
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Beach Director,the Beach Manager is to oversee the daily operations of the beach, including front gate, boat rental, picnic rentals, lifeguard surveillance and office activities. The beach manager will maintain a professional environment between staff and guest for a safe and fun experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 18 years of age.
Valid drivers’ license and current car insurance.
Knowledge of beach operations, facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures.
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
Current Waterfront Skills Certificate.
Current LGI Certification preferred.
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Management certification.
Prior aquatics experience.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to enforce beach regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Open and secure facility.
Prepare beach area, grounds and facility for daily opening.
Count monies in banks at beginning and end of shifts.
Continuous check and balance cash registers during the workday.
Supervise office, beach support and lifeguard staff to maintain a safe and clean facility.
Respond to aquatic and on-land emergencies appropriately, and lead lifeguards and other responders through the Emergency Action Plan.
Promote positive public relations.
Safeguard, record and deposit money and cash receipts.
Make repeated rounds throughout the facility, grounds and parking lot.
Collect revenue from gate and boat rentals.
Make deposits from gate and boat rentals.
Assist in training of beach staff and lifeguards.
Enforce Park District policies and procedures.
Monitor employee work shifts, breaks and overall work performance.
Lead facility orientations for visiting camps.
Maintain and log accurate daily log of attendance and money receipts.
Count and safeguard money bank assigned to the beach.
Contact parents of children who receive first aid or disciplinary measures.
Secure facility building and grounds when closing.
Assist Beach Director and Recreation Aquatics Supervisor with hiring and evaluation of employees.
Managers with LGI Certifications will conduct pre-season training, weekly guard in-service training as well as instruct lifeguard classes.
Attend PDRMA in service workshops.
Attend staff meetings as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK HOURS • A schedule of approximately 20-40 hours per week will be established. These hours will vary depending on current weather or attendance conditions.
• Due to the seasonal nature of this job, guards are expected to work on weekends, holidays and evenings. Paid vacation time, sick time and holiday pay do not apply for this position.
