The Market Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily café operations while providing exceptional customer service and effective leadership to the team. The Supervisor ensures that beverages and food are prepared to company standards, employees are supported and productive, and the café remains clean, organized, and welcoming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Supervise, motivate, and support baristas and staff during assigned shifts.

· Lead daily opening and closing procedures.

· Provide excellent customer service and create a welcoming experience for guests.

· Prepare and ensure the consistent quality of coffee, espresso drinks, beverages, and food items.

· Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.

· Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members throughout each shift.

· Monitor staffing levels and communicate scheduling or coverage needs to management.

· Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately handle cash and credit transactions.

· Complete cash counts and follow established cash-handling procedures.

· Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering and restocking needs.

· Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the café.

· Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and workplace safety standards.

· Address customer questions, complaints, and concerns professionally.

· Monitor product quality, portion control, and waste.

· Communicate operational issues, employee concerns, and customer feedback to management.

· Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, reliability, teamwork, and a positive attitude.

· Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

· Previous experience in a market, café, restaurant, retail, or hospitality environment.

· Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

· Strong customer service and communication skills.

· Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

· Reliable, punctual, and dependable.

· Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.

· Basic computer and point-of-sale system knowledge.

· Barista or coffee preparation experience preferred.

· Food handler or food safety certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

· Ability to bend, reach, and lift supplies and equipment as needed.

· Ability to lift approximately 25–30 pounds.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods
