Want to discover just how far your intellectual curiosity can take you? You’re in the right place. For more than four decades, Axcelis Technologies has been at the forefront of innovation in semiconductor manufacturing technology. Chipmakers around the globe rely on our tools and process expertise to deliver the semiconductors that power modern life from smartphones and computers to cameras and cars.  Our influence is global, with more than 30 offices worldwide, an installed base of thousands worldwide and a customer list that includes the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers.

Our team is expanding, and we are currently hiring a scientist to join our Technology Development group in Beverly to develop advanced beamline control methods for our leading-edge Purion product line of ion implanter systems. The successful candidate will combine physical insight, hands-on experimentation, and modern control methods to develop, test, and validate new beamline control approaches using physics-based modeling, data analysis, and AI/ML-enabled methods where appropriate.

We are offering the resources of a large company with the focus and agility of a startup.

  • Collaborate across functions while operating as a strong individual contributor

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in semiconductor equipment or a related high-technology field preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex technical problems
  • Travel to customers, suppliers, and conferences may be required (approximately 1-2 times per year)
