Position Overview

The Beauty Shop Stylist is responsible for providing a variety of hair and beauty services to residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming salon environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults and understands the importance of providing services with patience, dignity, and respect.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional hair and beauty services to residents, including:
  
  
  
  • Haircuts and trims
  
  
  • Shampooing and styling
  
  
  • Sets and blow-drying
  
  
  • Perms and other approved salon services
  
  
  • Other beauty services within your scope of practice
  
  
  
  


• Schedule and maintain resident appointments.


• Provide services in a friendly, respectful, and professional manner.


• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary beauty shop.


• Follow all applicable infection-control, sanitation, and safety requirements.


• Properly clean and sanitize equipment and work surfaces between residents.


• Communicate respectfully with residents, families, and facility staff.


• Demonstrate patience and compassion when working with residents who may have mobility, cognitive, or other limitations.


• Maintain appropriate documentation and follow facility procedures.


• Help create a positive salon experience that promotes resident dignity, confidence, and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Current Indiana Cosmetology License or other applicable state-required credential.


• Previous experience as a hairstylist/cosmetologist preferred.


• Experience working with older adults is a plus.


• Strong customer service and communication skills.


• Dependable, professional, and organized.


• Ability to work independently while collaborating with facility staff.


• Compassionate and comfortable working with residents in a long-term care setting.
