Job Description - Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Description

Northpointe is a Community Mental Health (CMH) organization providing services to individuals with serious mental illness, emotional disturbance, substance abuse disorders, and intellectual/developmental disabilities across Iron, Dickinson, and Menominee counties in the UP of Michigan. Northpointe itself was established in 1995 but has roots as a CMH dating back to 1964. Our presence can be found through remote emergency services, in school and home-based programs, and in clinical and residential home settings.

Job Purpose

We are looking for a passionate, driven individual to join our team as a Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) within our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) department serving Iron, Menominee, and Dickinson counties. This role is offered on a full-time salaried basis and required to work tri-county, (Dickinson, Menominee, Iron).

This position will primarily work within the Autism Program designing, implementing, training, and monitoring applied behavior analysis interventions but may be assigned to other appropriate clinical cases for the provision of ABA, including but not limited to developmentally disabled children and adults. The individual functions as part of an inter-disciplinary team and services are delivered both in an outpatient clinic setting and in-home. The Behavior Analyst will have responsibility for direct oversight of ABA services delivered by paraprofessionals.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

 Essential Duties 

• Assist consumers, parents/guardians, and staff in identifying behavior support plan outcomes, consumer strengths, barriers and support necessary to achieve outcomes. Discuss functional behavioral assessment conclusions and treatment recommendations with the recipients and/or family and encourage their support in the treatment process. 

• Develop functional behavioral assessments consistent with professional standards of practice and agency requirements.

• Train, implement, and monitor behavioral support plans and behavioral treatment plans. These activities will include direct program observation, staff consultation, and training through coaching of staff, modeling, videotaping, etc. 

• Provide support for emergency and crisis situations involving challenging behaviors during assigned work hours. 

• Participate in Person Centered Plans (PCP) as assigned. 

• Maintain complete and detailed case records consistent with clinical directives and agency procedures. 

• Advocate for the rights of consumers at all times. Protect and promote recipient rights and comply with reporting requirements established by the Mental Health Code and procedures of the Community Health Services Board. 

• Seek direction from the program supervisor or director in all situations where he/she is unclear as to the course of action to follow. 

• Adhere to all policies, procedure and/or legal commitments to consumers as required by Northpointe, licensing agencies, and department rules. 

• Participate in staff meetings, in-services, required trainings, special meetings, continuous quality improvement process and committees as required. 

Requirements

 Education, Certifications, and/or Experience 

• Minimum of a Master’s degree conferred in behavioral analysis or other natural science, human services engineering, medicine or a field related to behavior analysis and approved by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board from an accredited institution of higher education. 

• Certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). 

• Must meet DCH qualifications as a Child Mental Health Provider (CMHP) 

• One year of clinical experience diagnosing and/or treating children with autism.
