Job Description - Behavior Specialist

Behavior Specialist | Special Education
Full-Time | Salary: $80,000 + CEU Investment

Make a real difference for students who need it most.
Join a collaborative team supporting students with autism and other behavioral challenges. You’ll coach teachers, build individualized behavior plans, and help students succeed in their classrooms. If you’re calm under pressure, love teaching adults as much as supporting kids, and want your work to show up in a student’s progress, we’d like to meet you.

What you’ll do

  • Support students across age groups with patience, respect, and a positive, strengths-based approach

  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and functional analyses, and present findings to IEP teams

  • Develop behavior intervention plans and monitor how they’re working in the classroom

  • Coach and train teachers and support staff in behavior management and de-escalation

  • Collect and analyze observation data to recommend instructional modifications

  • Help design programs and best practices grounded in ABA for students with autism and other disabilities

  • Partner with families, administrators, and outside providers, and take part in IEP meetings and parent conferences

  • Keep clear, accurate records and reports, and maintain strict confidentiality

What you bring

  • At least 2+ years of experience in crisis management, including verbal and non-verbal de-escalation of potentially dangerous situations

  • Working knowledge of ABA, positive behavior interventions, and the IEP process

  • Familiarity with special education regulations and best practices

  • Strong skills in data tracking, record keeping, and Excel

  • Excellent written and spoken communication

  • A flexible, collaborative approach with children and adults

Education

  • BCBA preferred. We encourage candidates enrolled in or who have completed a BCBA pathway to apply, and we’ll support you in completing certification within one year of hire.

  • Equivalent qualifications will be considered

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Medical plan starting at $13.80/mo. The $6.90 is per pay for the Minimum Value Health Plan.

  • Employer-paid Life Insurance + AD&D

  • Employer-provided Long-Term Disability coverage for financial protection

  • 403(b) retirement plan with employer match

  • 10 paid holidays + generous PTO

  • Tickets at Work

  • Employee referral bonuses and recognition programs

  • Clear pathways for growth and advancement
