Job Description - Behavioral Coach - Lead


Job Title: Lead Coach FLSA Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Department: CCS Reports to: Outpatient Director

Starting Wage: $23


Position summary and general purpose:


Provide Coaching services to youth and families. Provide leadership to coaching staff and support related to the program. 


Role qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in human services discipline and two years experience working with youth and families in a community setting
  2. Knowledge of community resources and ability to connect youth and families with these resources
  3. Self-directed work style and ability to collaborate with the coaching team, agency administrators, and other personnel to support the mission and activities of Turning Point. Demonstrated ability to show initiative in managing job responsibilities, communicating job performance ideas and concerns to supervisor, and seeking resources to maintain and build areas of expertise. 
  4. Demonstrated ability to serve as a representative of the agency, and thus converse professionally and knowledgeably with clients, their families, referral agents, community resource representatives, local care providers, employers and the public at large. 
  5. Flexibility in work hours to accommodate program needs; may include evening and weekend hours. 

Position responsibilities:

  1. Development and implementation of client services
    1. Collaborate with the Outpatient Director to provide direction and leadership in the monthly staff meetings.
    2. Lead the training of new and current coaching staff as well as providing a significant portion of the training. 
    3. Maintain client records in the agency’s computerized database system.
    4. Performs complex office administrative support in areas such as meeting coordination, report preparation, staff communications, and correspondence. 
    5. Organizes files, materials, and documents in support of the overall achievement of the coaching program goals.
    6. Assist management team on administrative projects and duties.
    7. Assist in collection and review of monthly reports for program billing.
  2. Interface extensively with communities to learn and build resources for clients.
    1. Research and develop a broad spectrum of connections and resources to support youth and families. 
    2. Develop and maintain professional relationships within the community related to career and job opportunities for clients. 
    3. Research and develop connections and resources for health care needs, leisure activities, mentoring services, mental health services, religious services, cultural activities, and resources to areas identified by clients’ individual treatment teams.
  3. Interface with staff, clients, and referral agents to serve the clients.
    1. Attend staffings on clients.
    2. Submit required monthly reports to supervisor and referral agents.
    3. Track and submit accurate billing information. 
    4. Communicate any areas of concern with supervisor and referral agents. 
    5. Dialogue with other coaches and service providers. 
    6. Attend trainings to improve job knowledge. 

Professional relationships and representation:

  1. Represent the agency, in word and action, in a manner that conveys professionalism, consensus of department and treatment team, support the agency mission and treatment philosophies, and regard for agency policies and procedures. (PPPM-Section 1080 3.d.)
  2. Role model to clients in an appropriate demeanor, appearance, language, and communication. (PPPM-Section 1080 1.g.)
  3. Treat with respect the findings, views and actions of all colleagues, and use appropriate channels to express judgement on these matters. (PPPM-Section 1080 3.c.)
  4. Work within the bounds of professional protocol, in all manners of speaking. (PPPM-Section 1080 3.e.)
  5. Complete other duties as assigned 

Essential functions

  1. Work collaboratively with the community, program staff, referral agents, and administrative staff to coordinate and implement services for clients.
  2. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate activities with clients. 
  3. Effectively represent the mission and purpose of Turning Point.

Supervisory responsibilities: No direct reports. 


Physical demands and work environment:

  1. Ability to use computerized client database systems for documentation and record keeping (visual). 
  2. Ability to communicate with clients, families, referral agents and other professionals in person, by telephone and by email (verbal, visual, hearing).
  3. Ability to operate a motor vehicle in order to transport clients (physical, visual).
