Job Description - Behavioral Health Clinician - Children's Rapid Response Team

Easterseals MORC is hiring for a Behavioral Health Clinician - Children's Rapid Response Team to help make a difference and become part of something bigger than yourself!


*This is a community- based opportunity and includes driving throughout the Oakland County area*

Qualifications:



  • Possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work or Counseling; AND Have a LLMSW or LLPC from the State of Michigan. 

  • Must meet qualifications of a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) per the Michigan PIHP/CMHSP Provider Qualification per Medicaid Services

  • Demonstrated strong clinical assessment and communication skills

  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and active auto insurance required

  • Knowledge of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders

  • Ability to maintain 24 hours of Child Diagnostic Treatment Services training


Essential Job Functions:



  1. Engage individuals in a welcoming, hopeful, empathetic manner.

  2. Collaborates as part of the Children's Rapid Response Team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating services for individuals/families with psychiatric, comorbid, and/or co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders.

  3. Implement integrated strength based assessment(s) interviews to assess the presence, onset, symptoms and patterns of behavioral health, substance use, and psychiatric disorders. Assess for acute needs and risk and provide/arrange for appropriate stage wise intervention. Demonstrate the knowledge of diagnostic criteria for psychiatric and substance use disorders.

  4. Responsible for rapid response to an individual/family in crisis within 1 hour of the determination.

  5. Provide intensive stabilization services and intervention including individual, group, or family psychotherapy. Evaluates the progress of individuals on an on-going basis.

  6. May perform case management functions and act as a liaison with school and/or vocational personnel and other community agencies to refer individuals, formulate and execute treatment plans, and provide educational and consultative services.

  7. Attends team huddles to review barrier and progress towards stabilization of person served.

  8. Assist individuals with identifying changes in behavior, attitudes, feelings and thoughts that are triggers for relapse. Assist in the development of a relapse prevention/crisis plan utilizing personal, community and provider supports.

  9. Communicate and collaborate with other providers across systems to ensure continuity of care.

  10. Collaborates across disciplines for co-treatment/consultation of complex co-occurring mental health needs and Substance Use Disorders.

  11. Assists individuals with medication needs and coordinates with psychiatrist as appropriate based on treatment needs. Provide support, education, and reinforce the use of prescribed medications. 

  12. Completes and maintains all paperwork in accordance with funding source as well as Easterseals MORC policies and procedures.

  13. Performs crisis intervention as needed.

  14. Travels to various locations throughout Oakland County provide crisis intervention which may include individual and/or family therapy.

  15. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care.

  16. Willingness to support and assist individuals with trauma related issues.
