Behavioral Health Counselor - RACC

Berks Counseling Center is a recovery-oriented behavioral health, physical health, and supportive services organization providing a holistic approach to a culturally and economically diverse population for the purpose of achieving a healthy and productive lifestyle.

You will provide direct but brief counseling and intervention services designed to support the students at Reading Area Community College as well as coordinates and develops its onsite counseling services, student workshops, intervention, and prevention. You will work closely with the direct supervisor and collaboratively with RACC staff. You will serve as a liaison between RACC staff and Berks Counseling Center.

You will:

• Ensure that students have access to BCC services as appropriate.
• Provide screening, assessment, and evaluation of students.
• Coordinate transition to BCC outpatient services, when applicable.
• Participate in RACC’s Care Team.
• Develop and provide RACC community workshops on a variety of behavioral health topics.
• Assist with calling and interacting with mobile crisis services.

To qualify for the position, you will need…

• A bachelor’s degree in a related social service field
• At least two years of direct counseling and substance abuse counseling experience (including relevant internship). Experience developing new services preferred. Bilingual: English/Spanish a plus. 
• Ability to work 40 hours per week within agency hours of operation, which are 8am-8pm Mon-Thurs, 8am-4pm Friday with Saturday hours, when applicable.

Preferred candidates will …

• A master’s degree in a related social service field 
• Be bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
• Have Knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed approaches preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

• SEEING: Must be able to see well enough to read reports and use computer.
• HEARING: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate to clients, vendors, and coworkers.
• MOBILITY: Must have mobility to move about the campus. Must have mobility to move about the community. LIFTING/PULLING/PUSHING: Must be able to lift/pull/push up to 5 pounds. 
• OTHER: Must be able to write, type, and use technology.

These clearances must be valid within the 60 months prior to employment. A conviction is not a bar to employment; however, a review will be conducted to make a determination of employment should a conviction be present.
• Receipt of original documentation and verification of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates, or licensure.
