Job Description - Behavioral Health Specialist - Tiny Home Village

Description

Since 1972, Therapeutic Health Services (THS) has provided evidence-based, culturally appropriate and compassionate behavioral health treatment, programs and services for children, youth, and families with substance use and mental health disorders. We are on the frontlines:

  • Lowering barriers to behavioral health for youth and adults who have had challenges accessing quality care

  • A family of caring and compassionate providers dedicated to serving the most vulnerable in our community

We are hiring for an Behavioral Health Specialist who will be located at our Seattle branch. THS, in collaboration with LIHI, (Low Income Housing Institute) seeks to improve the lives of those living in LIHI operated tiny home villages within our community. In our work with LIHI, we have seen safe, secure, dignified shelter for those who have been living outside combined with on-site behavioral health services as a stabilizing first step in the transition out of homelessness. In addition to supporting individual residents in their mental health and/or substance use disorder recovery, by providing de-escalation and crisis management services we are able to help make the villages safer places for all residents and help villages to be good neighbors in the areas where they are sited.

The pay range for this position is $68,000 - $70,077/annually DOE.

Requirements

  • Provides on-site brief intervention, de-escalation and crisis management and recovery support at designated LIHI-operated Tiny Home Village.
  • Becomes a visible, stable and accessible presence at assigned Tiny Home Village.
  • Through progressive engagement, works with Tiny Home Village residents to identify and begin to address mental health and substance use issues which may present barriers to long-term, stable housing.
  • Collaborates with on-site LIHI staff to respond to resident incidents and support resident compliance with Village rules and standards of behavior.
  • Offer individual and group counseling sessions while residents are in ideation (pre-enrollment) phase.
  • Performs Mental Health intake intakes/evaluations and collects and processes psycho-social data from residents for purposes of clarifying treatment goals and establishing preliminary diagnoses that may be required to access housing or other services.
  • Provide a warm handoff to THS staff for residents who wish to pursue formal Mental Health or Substance Use Disorder Treatment.
  • Ensures prompt, accurate clinical documentation including treatment plans, progress notations in assigned participant files; preparation of treatment contracts, letters, referrals, discharge summaries of terminated participants as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social service field required.
  • Current Washington State Counselor credential or current professional licensure is required. MHP credential preferred.
  • SUDP/T is a plus.
  • At least one year experience providing counseling, case management, and group services to individuals and their families.
  • Previous experience working with homeless or unstably housed individuals is a plus.
  • Experience in working with multi-ethnic populations in outreach, de-escalation, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution skills.
