Job Description - Behavioral Health Support Specialist/Outreach
Teche Health, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for a WIC Lead Health Educator in Houma, Louisiana.
This is a full-time position. Office hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 5:30pm and Friday 8:00am - 12:00noon.
JOB SUMMARY:
The BH Specialist/Outreach coordinates with various community partners/providers within all parishes within the region with a particular focus in St. Mary Parish promoting and building partnerships based around Teche Health’s SUD services for patients age ranging 12 – 17 years old. Host/Attend community events and perform focused outreach/marketing for Teche Health’s BH Department.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responds to calls for BH assessments from referral sources within a timely Reports any concerns or barriers to the Administration and BH Director.
Coordinates communication related to all BH referrals, assessment and admission activities, ensures timely scheduling to treatment
Works collaboratively with Behavioral Health Providers and support staff to provide relevant information as needed. Participates with appropriate interested parties and providers through the patient response inquiry, admission, treatment, and discharge process.
Hosts/Attends community events and performs focused outreach/marketing for BH services Teche Health provides.
Assist marketing in developing BH materials to include SUD services for 12–17-year-old to include but not limited to:
Billboards, Flyers, Radio, Display Banners, Push Cards, etc.
Provides input, suggestions, and support
Works collaboratively with referring community partners and departments to assist managing behavioral health SUD assessment
Tracks and reports on all key indicators related to calls, assessment,
Ensure patient rights and confidentiality are maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Education:
Bachelor s Degree Preferred; or certification in healthcare related area with experience as outlined
Experience:
1-3 years’ experience in a behavioral healthcare setting or in a clinical treatment setting for non-licensed staff
Knowledge and experience in outpatient clinic settings; experience and/or training in medical terminology
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Possess a basic knowledge of current behavioral health concepts, principles and methods of Possess good communication skills verbal and written.
Possess good organizational skills and be able to act on multiple Demonstrates ability to prioritize.
Ability to follow established policy and procedures when performing job Ability to demonstrate good judgment.
Interacts and communicates with others in a way that promotes a positive and cooperative work
Ability to channel concerns appropriately.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in clinical and business environment. Work may be stressful at times
Communication Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents typically associated with job duties as an MA in an outpatient setting and associated with the job duties outlined
Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence and document according to policy in the electronic health record.
Ability to speak effectively with providers and clinical support staff, insurance carriers, and patients.
Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
Ability to perform these operations using of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems.
Ability to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to work reliably and with professionalism in a high-volume, high-demand medical environment.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and E-mail.
Proficiency in agency EHR applications
Professional Skills:
Knowledge High level of confidentiality required.
Ability to work independently and within a team.

Eligibility Requirements:
All employees must meet eligibility standards in order to be considered for the position applying for.
