Job Description - Behavioral-Health Clinician

The Behavioral-Health Clinician provides assessment, therapy, crisis intervention, and case coordination for individuals experiencing mental-health and/or substance-use concerns. This role delivers evidence-based treatment, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and supports clients in developing skills to improve emotional, psychological, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive intakes, mental-health assessments, risk evaluations, and diagnostic formulations using DSM-5 criteria.

  • Provide individual, group, and/or family therapy using evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, MI, trauma-informed care, etc.).

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and update them regularly.

  • Deliver crisis intervention, safety planning, and de-escalation during psychiatric or emotional emergencies.

  • Coordinate care with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, primary-care providers, and community partners.

  • Monitor client progress, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and maintain timely clinical documentation.

  • Support clients in accessing community resources such as housing, employment, and peer-support services.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and internal trainings.

  • Maintain compliance with agency policies, confidentiality standards, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, state regulations).

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Social Work, Mental-Health Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field.

  • Current state license or licensure-eligible (e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).

  • Experience in behavioral health, clinical assessment, and therapeutic interventions.

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and recovery-oriented practices.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and crisis-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities.

  • Certification or experience in specialized areas (e.g., substance use, trauma therapy, children/adolescents, co-occurring disorders).

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

  • Experience in community-based, outpatient, or residential behavioral-health settings.
