ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

This position is required to primarily work an in person schedule, Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern. Our Corporate HQ is located at 27096 Oakmead Dr., Perrysburg, OH 43551.

Core Description: The Benefits and Payroll Specialist acts as an ambassador of Sigma culture across the organization and play an active role in employee engagement. This position will be primarily responsible for preparing and processing bi-weekly payroll and associated information. This position will also address and troubleshoot employee inquiries regarding payroll, time off, benefits, 401 (k) retirement plan, and other HR related matters as needed.

Highlighted Job Tasks:

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll and associated information.
  • Collates and verifies data and inputs into the payroll system.
  • Updates payroll records and processes routine changes to employee records.
  • Performs basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle.
  • Assists with administration of employer compensation programs
  • Facilitates benefits enrollment and administrative processes.
  • Prepares and processes enrollments, changes, and other benefit filings.
  • Reconciles and processes monthly benefit premium withholdings and invoices.
  • Responds to inquiries for information and provides instructions and other enrollment materials to employees.
  • Assists with the administration of FMLA, COBRA and ACA reporting.
  • Process voluntary and involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments;
  • Champion the wellness program to drive Associate engagement and impact outcomes
  • Support open enrollment and work with benefit partners to ensure smooth and effective communication and coordination for a seamless employee experience
  • System updates related to payroll, benefits administration and time off plan management
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

General Requirements:

  • Education: An Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is strongly preferred, but may not be fully required given the proper combination of education & experience.
  • Work Experience: 3+ years of demonstrated experience with payroll and benefits administration
  • Work Availability: Available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and occasional evening and weekend work may be required as duties demand
  • Work Location: Primarily work on-site to provide in-person employee and team support, occasional hybrid/remote work options available.
  • Dependable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Experience with HRIS preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality regarding company and employee information
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision and easily adapt to changing situations
  • Working knowledge of payroll concepts, practices, and procedures along with HR laws and regulation
  • Professional demeanor-positive communication, team skills/cross functional cooperation
  • Dependable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Able to pass a background check/driving record check
  • Computer literate – especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to endure frequent, lengthy periods of sedentary work and sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must have the physical ability to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing notes, and viewing a computer terminal; these activities require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have the physical ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, often in a group setting.
  • Must have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
