Reports To:  Center Director

Classification: Regular Full-time, Non-Exempt – 40 Hours Per Week

Basic Function:

  

To provide therapeutic services to individuals and families who have experienced financial difficulties in order to promote long-term healing from the effects of the trauma. The Social Services Counselor will also provide education and information to other professionals in the agency and the community as they relate to mental health and available options for those who have or are experiencing trauma in their lives.

Specific Duties:

1. Conduct psychosocial assessment and treatment plans for individuals and groups

2. Provide therapeutic, solution focused, cognitive behavioral therapy to clients and their families that have experienced financial trauma and/or sexual assault.

3. Provide therapeutic services with emphasis on the effective coordination of resources with other programs in order to provide comprehensive services, which maintain the respect and dignity of the agency’s clients 

4. Oversee weekly support groups by facilitating or co-facilitating 

5. Maintain accurate and current records on all clients as required by the agency and its funding sources.

6. Maintain cordial professional relationships with allied professionals. Provide consultation/education to agencies and organizations that express interest in receiving information regarding this population, as approved by the Director

7. Enhance professional expertise by seeking out and attending approved training and workshops that focus on providing therapy to clients.

8. Maintain professional credentials and/or licensure requirements of the counselor’s specific field of human service provision if this status has been reached

9. Maintain strict adherence to the professional code of ethics that govern the therapist’s academic discipline of field of human service delivery

10. Complete in a timely fashion all necessary weekly and monthly records that pertain to services provided, time and attendance, travel and workshop reimbursement, continuing education, which is received or provided, and other records deemed appropriate by the agency

11. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills

· Ability to work well with diverse populations

· Knowledge of computer software is an asset (ie. Microsoft Office, Apricot, Teams)

· Minimum Requirements: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

· Fluency in Spanish and English
