Bilingual Spanish Special Education Tutor - Literacy & Math

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Hawthorne, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Hawthorne, CA
• Schedule: 10 hours, 1 session a week for 2 hours
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Fluent in both Spanish and English to support the student and family communication.
• Experience working with students with Down Syndrome, autism, or other developmental and learning differences.
• Strong background in foundational literacy, math, and functional academic skills.
• Skilled in behavior management and implementing structured, individualized instruction.
• Patient, encouraging, and creative, able to use sensory activities and positive reinforcement.
• Familiarity with IEP goals, accommodations, and special education best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one instruction in foundational literacy (reading, phonics, writing, vocabulary) and foundational math skills (number recognition, basic operations, shapes, and colors.
• Support handwriting development and functional academic skills.
• Implement structured, individualized lesson plans tailored to the student’s needs, incorporating sensory supports and positive reinforcement.
• Foster social-emotional learning (SEL) through engaging activities and consistent guidance.
• Communicate regularly with the family in Spanish regarding progress, strategies, and session updates.
• Maintain a supportive and patient learning environment that encourages confidence, engagement, and independence.
• Bring or create materials and curriculum to supplement learning, as the student does not have assigned homework.
